The Resume

    (December 26, 1929-May 1, 2022)
    Born in Brussels, Belgium
    Birth name was Regina Zylberberg
    Singer/discotheque owner
Recorded 'Je Survivrai' (a French-language version of Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive')
Owned a series of 'Chez Regine' nightclubs
Nicknamed the 'Queen of the Night'

Why she might be annoying:

She was pretentiously known by a single name.
She said, 'I want a place where I get to choose who comes in. I wanted counts and dukes - people with titles.'
Most of the decor and furniture at the first Chez Regine were stolen.
The liquor in her clubs was ridiculously overpriced.
She brought 200 pounds of luggage and 800 pairs of shoes for a trip to New York City.

Why she might not be annoying:

She hid from the Nazis in a Catholic convent in occupied France.
She taught the twist to the Duke of Windsor.
She successfully promoted the first Chez Regine by putting up a 'Disco Full' sign and turning away people for a month; the day she opened for real, the club was mobbed.
Her clubs were known for their theme nights, such a Jean Harlow night, which required women to wear white satin dresses to gain entry.
