    Composed music for Henrik Ibsen's play 'Peer Gynt' which notably includes the pieces 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' and 'Morning Mood'
    Famous for his 'Piano Concerto in A minor' (written in 1868)
    He strongly resembled Mark Twain.
    He was married to his first cousin, who was also a musician.
    He disliked one of his most well known pieces, 'In the Hall of the Mountain King', which he said 'reeked of cow dung.'
    His music is commonly featured in cartoons and movie trailers.
    He is considered to be one of Norway's greatest composers, and his music is well known throughout the world to this day.
    He was taught to play the piano at age 6, at 15 he was sent to Germany to study music and at age 24 wrote his Piano Concerto.
    He had been writing music since the age of 10.
    He struggled to support his family and gain recognition as a composer throughout his early career.
    His only child died at 13 months of age due to an unknown illness.
    A sufferer of poor health his entire life, he overcame a lung disease at age 17.
