    Her first marriage lasted only 10 months.
    Her second marriage ended when she found her husband hanging from a basement rafter in their Washington town house.
    She was heavilly rumored to be a drug user (including an on-air newscast meltdown).
    She was affectionately called 'Jessica Savage' by some male chauvinist reporters.
    She had a nose job.
    She had a speech impediment.
    She pioneered the woman news anchor position for others to follow, such as Barbara Walters.
    Her father died when she was only twelve.
    She won numerous awards, including four Emmys, the prestigious Alfred I. Dupont-Columbia University Award and the Clarion Award for Women in Communication (1974).
    She earned these awards because of her coverage on women’s issues.
    Her series, 'Rape... The Ultimate Violation,' not only won awards, but was responsible for 'a revision of laws (in three states) regarding the treatment of rape victims and the prosecution of rapists in those states.'
    She was only 37 when she died (1983).
    She and Martin Fischbein (vice president of The New York Post) left the restaurant, Chez Odette (in New Hope, Pennsylvania), in a downpour of rain.
    He mistakenly drove down a towpath that led to the Delaware Canal.
    The couple were drowned along with her Siberian Husky, Chewy (October 23, 1983).
