Why he might be annoying
He has no formal training in theology or science but speaks and writes at length on both subjects.
He doesn't consider most Christians to be Christian by his standards.
In one of his books criticizing Darwinian evolution, he deletes/ignores four chapters of Darwin's 'Evolution of the Species.'
He doesn't make any organized attempt to feed the hungry and clothe the naked like Jesus said to in the Bible.
He moved from his native New Zealand to California.
Why he might not be annoying
He's repeatedly challenged atheist Richard Dawkins to a debate offering him up to 40,000 dollars to do so. Dawkins has refused to appear for less than 100,000 dollars.
He has debated atheists at atheist conventions.
He's very charitable to those who disagree with him.
Unlike many clergymen in the public eye, he has never been involved in any type of sexual or financial scandal.
He usually holds services on Saturday night at his ministry so people can attend Sunday morning services at their own church.
