The Resume

    (1979-1997)

    Elizabeth Fraser, vocals
Robin Guthrie, guitar and drum machine
    Will Heggie, bass guitar (1979-83)
Simon Raymonde, bass guitar, keyboards and violin (1983-97)
    Benny Di Massa, drums (1993-94)
Recorded the albums 'Garlands' (1982), 'Head Over Heels' (1983), 'Treasure' (1984), 'Victorialand' (1986), 'Blue Bell Knoll' (1988), 'Heaven or Las Vegas' (1990), 'Four Calendar Cafe' (1993) and 'Milk and Kisses' (1996)

Why they might be annoying:

There were three of them and none of them were related. (Shades of the Thompson Twins.)
They were known for being enigmatic and non-responsive in interviews.
Fraser and Guthrie had a daughter out of wedlock. (Fraser: 'Having a relationship with someone in the band, it's fucking exhausting.')
After breaking up romantically, Fraser and Guthrie would record their parts for the band's last two albums in shifts to avoid seeing each other.
They planned to play at the 2005 Coachella Festival only to cancel after Fraser complained about emotional stress at the prospect of a reunion.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were called 'one of three main pillars of British alternative music' along with New Order and the Smiths.
Fraser's ethereal vocals packed an emotional punch even when they were barely comprehensible.
Guthrie and Raymonde founded the Bella Union label, which was twice named Independent Label of the Year at the Music Week Awards (2010,2012).
