Musicians

The Resume

    (1963-1969)
    Born in Birmingham, United Kingdom
    Original line-up:
    Stevie Winwood, vocals and organ
    Spencer Davis, guitar
    Muff Winwood, bass guitar
    Pete York, drums
Recorded the singles 'Keep on Running' (1965), 'Somebody Help Me' (1966), 'Gimme Some Lovin' (1966) and 'I'm A Man' (1967)

Why they might be annoying:

Their first two albums were released under the uninspired titles 'Their 1st LP' and 'Their Second Album.'
Despite their name, Steve Winwood was the focal point of the band.
They never had another hit after Winwood left to join Traffic (1967).
Among the musicians who auditioned to replace Winwood and were rejected was Elton John.
Davis has reformed the group a couple of times, but without Winwood.

Why they might not be annoying:

Before teaming up with Winwood, Davis had busked with Christine McVie and formed a skiffle band with Bill Wyman.
They had two #1 hits in Britain and two Top Ten hits in the US.
The band launched Steve Winwood into stardom.
'Gimme Some Lovin' received a BMI Award for reaching over 3 million broadcast performances.
The original line-up did have an 80s reunion -- in court, when they jointly sued Island Records which had not paid them any royalties since their 1969 break-up.
