    While working as security guard at Watergate building discovered duct tape on locks of Democratic National Committee offices and removed it (June 1972)
    Phoned police when tape replaced
    Cops discovered and arrested 5 burglars
    Led to the Watergate Scandal
    His discovery ultimately caused the resignation of President Richard Nixon.
    He portrayed himself in the 1976 film 'All the President's Men.'
    In 1983 he was convicted of shoplifting.
    He didn't receive a raise for reporting the Watergate break-in.
    Harry Nilsson dedicated an album to him.
    He cared for his ill mother for several years.
    Although he was the person whose whistle blowing uncovered the dirty tactics of the Nixon Administration, he received none of the glory.
