TV Series

The Resume

Why E.R. might be annoying:

    So much cast turnover!
When Noah Wyle left after the 2005 season, it effectively meant that no cast member has appeared in every ‘ER’ season.
Several people were led to think that the series was based off of one of Michael Crichton’s books, since he created the show.
There was already a 1980s sitcom with the name ‘E/R’, which also starred Clooney.
It contains a lot of medical terminology that the average viewer can’t understand.
They had a live broadcast episode (1997) and treated it like it was innovative (unfortunately, it’s been already done with shows like Saturday Night Live.)
Outside the show, many cast members act like they are doctors in real life.
Like most long-running shows, its stories deteriorated during the later seasons.
Dr. Romano had an arm chopped off by a helicopter propeller, then got killed by a falling helicopter (what kind of luck is that?!).
Though the name of the show is a two-letter acronym, some people tend to pronounce it as a word: ‘errr’.

Why E.R. might not be annoying:

It was one of the first network shows to be broadcast in widescreen format.
It’s one of the longest running medical dramas of all time, despite the ever-changing cast.
It has won many Emmys and other awards.
The writers take great pains to make all the emergency room scenes accurate.
It was originally a concept for a Steven Spielberg movie, and Spielberg ended up suggesting ideas for episodes during its early years.
    Quentin Tarantino directed an episode.
It ran through the live episode twice, so both coasts could watch it live.
Clooney wanted a basketball hoop placed near the set to unwind during takes, and that hoop ended up becoming incorporated into the show.
It was the last remaining show of NBC’s ‘Must See TV’ era.
It was ranked #22 in TV Guide’s ’50 Best TV Shows of All Time’ list (2002).
