Why Sunrise, Florida might be annoying
It was initially named 'Sunset', before it drew the ire of the retirees it was intended to market to, forcing the name change.
Despite being located in Broward County, many people wrongfully assume it is part of neighboring Miami-Dade County.
Its multi-purpose facility was originally supposed to be called Broward County Civic Center before it sold the naming rights to National Car Rental, Office Depot and BankAtlantic, respectively.
It has extremely hot and humid summers.
It has a restricted transit system, which does not operate on the weekends.

The Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall is the fourth largest retail shopping center in the United States.
The NHL's Florida Panthers moved here from Miami in the late 1990's, which brought increased exposure to the city.
It hosted both the 2001 NHL Entry Draft and the 2003 NHL All-Star Game.
It is located near the Florida Everglades.
It prides itself on being a cosmopolitan center with a small town lifestyle.
