Hockey Coach
He was a minor league journeyman.
He failed to translate his success in the AHL at the NHL level.
He was fired from his NHL coaching jobs near the end of the season twice.
He watched his Senators team become inconsistent following a 15-2 start (2007-08).
In addition to the team's inconsistencies, his refusal to discipline Ray Emery for his frequent tardiness and poor attitude was a key factor in his firing after 64 games.
He was the first Manitoba native to coach the Jets franchise.
He guided three different AHL teams to the Calder Cup championships.
Despite the Senators inconsistent season, he served as the head coach for the Eastern Conference at the NHL All-Star weekend (2008).
He scored the tying goal in game 6 of the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals.
