The Resume

    (October 2, 1953-July 2, 1954)
    Aired on ABC
    Paul Hartman as Albie Morrison
    Fay Wray as Catherine Morrison
    Natalie Wood as Ann Morrison
    Bobby Hyatt as Junior Morrison
Premise: Focuses on the misadventures of a nuclear family headed by a curmudgeonly ad executive father

Why Pride of the Family might be annoying:

It was a generic situation comedy.
Its title is similar to The Proud Family.
It was a bid to become America's premiere 'nuclear family show' of the fifties.
That distinction ended up getting claimed by shows like Father Knows Best and Leave it to Beaver instead.
Natalie's mother refused to let her do the show unless producers agreed to give her top billing over Bobby Hyatt, along with $400 an episode (thus the credits would end with the tagline 'and featuring Bobby Hyatt').
It was cancelled at the tail-end of its first-and-only season, which aspiring movie star Natalie was relieved about (she said: 'I objected to it because I don't think teenagers are all dopes and idiots. And I didn't think the show was funny. It was like being a traitor to my own class').

Why Pride of the Family might not be annoying:

It was Natalie Wood's only regular television role.
It gave Fay Wray the opportunity to be associated with something other than being King Kong's love interest.
Natalie Wood and Bobby Hyatt became lifelong friends during the show's run.
Albie Morrison performed much more physical slapstick comedy than his fellow TV dad counterparts Jim Anderson and Ward Cleaver.
Its episodes have not been rerun on any network nor have they received a wide DVD release (a handful of episodes can be found on YouTube).
