Why Birmingham, England might be annoying:

It was heavily polluted from the start of the Industrial Revolution until the very recently. And its recent cleanup is more due to the loss of various industries than an intentional cleanup campaign.
Despite being England's second largest city, it is a distant fifth as a tourist destination.
It has lost a lot of manufacturing jobs over the last few decades.
The nicknames of its inhabitants are 'Bruns'
Neville Chamberlain and porn 'actress' Kay Parker are from there.

Ozzy is from there!
It is believed to have been inhabited as early as 10,400 BC.
It has two universities and three colleges and is justly famed for being a center of higher culture.
They make Jaguars there.
It has a very ethnically diverse population in the otherwise generally homogeneous England.
It was heavily damaged during WWII and its population suffered terribly.
