    Immortalized in the play 'Cyrano de Bergerac' by Edmond Rostand
    He was French.
    He had an enormous nose.
    He fought many duels because of the constant insults he received.
    The play in which he was immortalized was highly fictionalized.
    He said: 'A large nose is the mark of a witty, courteous, affable, generous and liberal man.'
    He was severely wounded in battle on two occasions.
