Directed the films ‘On the Town’ (co-directed with Gene Kelly, 1949), ‘Royal Wedding’ (1951), ‘Singin in the Rain’ (with Kelly, 1952), ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ (1954), ‘It’s Always Fair Weather’ (with Kelly, 1955), ‘The Pajama Game’ (1957), ‘Damn Yankees’ (1958), ‘Charade’ (1963), ‘Bedazzled’ (1967), ‘Two for the Road’ (1967), ‘Saturn 3’ (1980) and ‘Blame It On Rio’ (1984)

Why he might be annoying:

He was married and divorced five times.
He said his motto was ‘eat, drink and re-marry.’
His first wife, Jeanne Coyne, went on to marry his frequent collaborator, Gene Kelly.
He was nominated for a Razzie for ‘Saturn 3.’
He re-created the scene of Fred Astaire dancing on the ceiling in ‘Royal Wedding’ for a Lionel Richie video.

Growing up, he was picked on for being Jewish.
He dated Elizabeth Taylor.
‘On the Town’ was the first Hollywood musical filmed on location.
His acceptance speech upon being given an honorary Oscar, during which he danced with the statuette while singing ‘Cheek to Cheek,’ was one of the highlights of the 1998 Academy Awards.
He said, ‘For me, directing is like having sex. When it’s good, it’s very good; but when it’s bad, it’s still good.’
