Why he might be annoying:

He was part of the conservative (or should we say 'fair and balanced') media machine.
He guest hosted for Rush Limbaugh.
He claimed Ruth Bader Ginsburg was the most liberal justice in history.
He supported the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
He performed in a band with 'Washington-area professionals.'
When Robert Byrd referred to 'white niggers' on his show, he twiddled his thumbs and said nothing.

Why he might not be annoying:

He recovered from colon cancer but eventually succumbed to it (July 12, 2008).
He played several different musical instruments.
He was an animal lover.
At times during his commentary career, he was very critical of President Bush.
As White House Press Secretary, he had the worst job in the world.
