    He was very eccentric causing him to lead a life of loneliness.
    He let other inventors such as Edison and Westinghouse steal his ideas and trample over him.
    In the last years of his life, he spent his time in a small apartment trying to communicate with extra-terrestrials.
    He suffered with anxiety.

Why he might not be annoying:

    His inventions include a telephone repeater, rotating magnetic field principle, polyphase alternating-current system, induction motor, alternating-current power transmission, Tesla coil transformer, wireless communication, radio, fluorescent lights and more than 700 other patents.
    He slept an average of 3 hours a night.
