Why he might be annoying:

    He played under four different head coaches in his first three seasons with the Spurs.
    He was traded to the Pistons for Dennis Rodman, prior to the latter's reinvention as an eccentric.
    He struggled to adapt to playing with the Pistons, during his lone season with the team.
    He was nearly traded to the Houston Rockets in a deal that would have seen Robert Horry and Matt Bullard go to Detroit (1994).
    The trade fell through after he revealed he had kidney problems.
    Following his public diagnosis of his kidney ailment, he was subject to unfounded rumors from being gay to contracting AIDS.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He left the University of Arizona men's basketball program as the school's all-time leading scorer.
    He and David Robinson formed a formidable scoring tandem for the Spurs, prior to the arrival of 7737>Tim Duncan.
    He was a member of the Spurs first NBA championship team (1999).
    He was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and underwent a life-saving kidney transplant, with the kidney being donated by his older brother.
    He was the first player in NBA history to make a successful comeback following a kidney transplant.
