He is a devout Catholic.
He went by the nickname 'Hanz.'
He was a first round pick, despite the fact he had the lowest scoring average amongst the first round selections.
He holds the dubious distinction of posting the worst winning percentage for a rookie head coach in NBA history.
He posted an 11-71 record in his lone season as an NBA head coach.
He never coached another game following that season.

He was a member of the 1980 U.S. men's basketball team that boycotted the Olympics in Moscow.
He established himself as a fan favorite in Denver during his playing career.
He helped co-found the Gold Crown Foundation, which offered basketball camps to young girls in Colorado.
Some basketball pundits cited his failure as the Nuggets head coach was largely in part to the fact he was given a lackluster team to work with.
He pursued a career in broadcasting following his dismissal as the Nuggets head coach.
