The Resume

    (October 22, 1913-December 1, 1958)
    Born in New Orleans, Louisiana
    Birth name was Patricia Mallory
Member of the Ziegfeld Follies of 1931
    WAMPAS Baby Star of 1932
Acted in 'Handle with Care (1932),' 'Humanity (1933),' 'Hello, Sister! (1933),' 'The Wolf Dog (1933),' 'Carnival Lady (1933),' 'The Big Race (1934),' 'Sing Sing Nights (1934),' 'Powdersmoke Range (1935),' 'Here's Flash Casey (1938)' and 'Swiss Miss (1938)'
Died in Santa Monica from chronic throat disease at age 45

Why she might be annoying:

When and why she went from Patricia to 'Boots' is not known.
She signed autographs as 'Boots' Mallory, making sure to include the quotation marks.
She was married three times - her first time at age 16 and her second marriage was a 13-year stint (1933-46) with James Cagney's brother William.
Her work in 'Hello Sister!' was drastically edited because studio execs felt there was a lesbian overtone between her character and the one played by Zasu Pitts.
In her last film role, the 1938 Laurel and Hardy comedy 'Swiss Miss,' she went uncredited.
When her younger sister Viola gave birth to twins in 1941, she got the seed planted in her head, and shortly afterward adopted twins.
By age 25, her film career was over.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was discovered working as an usherette at the Lyric Theater in Mobile, Alabama and became a Ziegfeld Girl at age 18.
In 1932, she was named a WAMPAS Baby Star along with such other movie luminaries as Ginger Rogers, Eleanor Holm and Gloria Stuart.
She posed for risqué lingerie photos and one time posed naked for famed pin-up artist Rolf Armstrong.
Her debut film 'Handle with Care' was well received.
While married to William Cagney, she got along well with her brother-in-law and his wife, and the four of them went out frequently.
She died at the relatively young age of 45.
