    (May 31, 1915-July 18, 1969)
Born in New York City, New York
    Birth name was Marion Pepper
Portrayed Doris Ziffel on Green Acres (1965-69)
Appeared in the films 'Our Daily Bread' (1934), 'The Rogues Tavern' (1936), 'They Made Me A Criminal' (1939), 'Forgotten Girls' (1940), 'Terror Trail' (1946) and 'Kiss Me, Stupid' (1964)
She joined the Ziegfeld Follies against her parents' wishes.
She suffered depression, drank heavily and gained a lot of weight.
Her alcoholism cost her the role of Ethel Mertz on I Love Lucy: William Frawley had already been hired and Desi Arnaz felt it was too risky having two heavy drinkers in the cast.
In her most famous role, she played the mother of a pig (who got a lot more fan mail than her).
She and Lucille Ball became life-long friends while working as extras in Eddie Cantor's Roman Scandals, and Ball hired her for small parts in several 'I Love Lucy' episodes.
She saved the life of a pedestrian who had a heart attack in front of her Hollywood home, calling a physician, then administering first aid until he arrived (July 30, 1936).
Her husband of six years, actor Craig Reynolds, died in a motorcycle accident (1949), which had a lot to do with her depression and drinking.
