Why Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia might be annoying:

    It is frequently nicknamed ‘Utaanbaatar’, meaning ‘smog hero’, because of the thick layer of smog present in the city during winter.
    It frequently changed names and places throughout the course of its history.
    Thousands of homeless children live in the city’s underground sewers.
    As a result of Horloogiyn Choybalsan’s policies, very few pre-1937 buildings survived up to this day.
    Riots raged around the city after disagreements over the results of parliamentary elections sprang up. (July 1, 2008)

Why Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia might not be annoying:

    Ger suburbs on the outskirts of the city can give a glimpse of traditional nomadic life before Soviet urban planning took place in the city.
    Its inhabitants are very hospitable despite the city’s dull appearance.
    As of 2012, it had Mongolia’s only international airport.
    It is surrounded by four mountains considered sacred by the Buddhist monks who chose the final site of the city.
