With seconds left, he missed a 47 yard field goal against the Giants in Superbowl XXX
If he had made the kick the Bills would have won their first Superbowl 22-20, instead they lost 20-19.
It began the streak of 4 consecutive Bills Superbowl loses.
He was known as a choke artist in Buffalo afterwards.
He was the inspiration for the Ray Finkle character in 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.'
The joke goes after the game, he tried to shoot himself in the head but missed 4 inches to the right.

Why he might not be annoying:

He doesn't mind the notoriety he gets for missing the potential game winning field goal in Superbowl XXV.
He was able to get out of the limelight after many Bills fans were calling for his head.
NY Giant fans love him as he allowed them their second Superbowl victory.
