Actor
    (January 28, 1910-January 28, 1973)
Died of abdominal hemorrhage at age 63
Sergeant Hans Schultz on ‘Hogan’s Heroes’
Appeared in ‘Seven Miles from Alcatraz’ and ‘Operation Eichmann’
Thanks in part to his accent, he spent much of his film career playing Nazis.
He was hired for a musical revue, From Vienna, as an emcee. However, since he knew not a syllable of English at the time, he had to learn his lines phonetically.
He died in the exact same city in which he was born, on his birthday.
    He weighed 280 pounds.
He picked up on the English language almost overnight.
As Sergeant Schultz, he had one of the most memorable catch phrases of all time (‘I zee nuttink’).
He played a variety of foreign official types besides Schultz.
He fled his native land after the Nazi Anschluss (connection) in 1938 — just prior to a change in concentration camp policies that would have meant a death sentence.
On the paradox of his role as a seemingly stupid prison guard, he said, 'Who can play Nazis better than us Jews?'
