Why Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman might be annoying
In its most successful season, it ranked only #44 in the ratings.
Lex Luthor was killed off at the end of the first season, and later villains were an uneven bunch.
The comic book's marriage of Clark Kent and Lois Lane was postponed so it could coincide with the TV series; in its place came the (in)famous 'Death of Superman' story arc.
The series had so many teases about Clark and Lois' wedding that the episode where they got hitched was titled 'Swear To God, This Time We're Not Kidding.'
ABC announced plans for a fifth season, then abruptly cancelled the show after all, leaving the series ending with an unresolved cliffhanger.
Why Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman might not be annoying
Hatcher and Cain had good chemistry together.
It made Clark less of a wimp than most earlier incarnations of 'Superman.'
Lex Luthor, speculating about Superman's abilities in an early episode, muses that he could be 'faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a speeding locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound,' as a tip of the hat to the earlier George Reeves Superman series.
In perhaps the best-ever comment on Clark Kent's 'disguise,' the villain Tempus confronts Lois and, putting on and removing a pair of glasses, says 'Look! I'm Clark Kent! No, I'm Superman! Mild-mannered reporter! Superhero! Hello!'
