    The Berkeley Daily Planet described her as 'a screechy fountain of song.'
    Tom Lehrer called 'Little Boxes' 'the most sanctimonious song ever written.'
    She was denied her high school diploma because her parents were socialists who opposed US participation in World War I.
    She contributed songs to and appeared on Sesame Street.
    She said, 'Conformity is not a really dreadful thing, but it's fun to prod it a little.'
    Her song 'Little Boxes' enjoyed renewed popularity after being featured in Weeds.
