Why he might be annoying:

He got his stage name when an announcer accidentally dropped his last name while introducing him.
Steve Earle said, ‘He fired pretty much every musician in the state [of Texas] at some point. To the point where he’d forget he’d fired you and then he’d rehire you.’
His wife and his girlfriend both attempted suicide when he cheated on them with a third woman.
When he began losing his voice after the success of ‘Whiskey River,’ he thought God was punishing him for his sins.
    He developed performance anxiety.

Why he might not be annoying:

Willie Nelson provided him with the money to record his first album.
He wrote ‘Whiskey River,’ which became one of Willie Nelson’s signature songs and Nelson’s usual concert opener.
’Whiskey River’ was also the first song performed on the long-running country music show ‘Austin City Limits.’
His vocal troubles were eventually diagnosed as the result of a rare neurological disorder, spasmodic dysphonia.
