She and Hardison had a child out of wedlock.
She continued telling reporters she and Hardison had not set a date for a wedding for years after they got married.
Her duet album with Lattimore, 'Things That Lovers Do,' came with a 'This CD may cause pregnancy' warning since she became pregnant with Kenny, Jr., during the recording sessions.
'Chante's Got a Man' was the only one of her singles to cross over to the Pop Top 40.

She was a successful beauty pageant contestant and model before signing a recording contract.
She has a multi-octave vocal range that drew comparisons to Minnie Riperton and Mariah Carey.
She received an American Music Award and an NAACP Image Award for her contribution to the 'Waiting to Exhale' soundtrack.
