Why she might be annoying:

    She divorced both her husbands.
    While living with Donald Sutherland in Los Angeles, she was arrested for allegedly attempting to buy hand grenades for the Black Panthers (1969).
    The US government denied her a work permit, eventually forcing her to return to Canada.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She won a Gemini Award (the Canadian equivalent of an Emmy) for her performance in the TV movie ‘Shadow Lake.’ (2000)
    She founded the first Canadian chapter of Performing Artists for Nuclear Disarmament.
    The charges in the Black Panther case were eventually dismissed by the courts.
    She said she never worried whether her political activism would harm her acting career: ‘If you see something that offends you morally or any other way you have to follow that and take it up.’
