Why he might be annoying:

He changed the pronunciation of his last name from rhyming with 'ease' to 'easy.'
He was criticized on the first day of the 2022 campaign when he was unable to provide figures for the unemployment rate and the Reserve Bank's lending rate.
He was accused of flip-flopping on refugee policy after announcing his government would continue turning back asylum seekers who arrived in Australia by boat, despite his earlier criticism of the policy.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was told growing up that his father had died in a car accident. He learned as an adult that his father was still alive and met him for the first time in 2009.
A long-time supporter of LGBT rights, he has been a frequent participant in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
He was seriously injured when his car was struck by a 17 year old driver, who was ticketed for negligent driving (January 8, 2021).
After the accident, he lost 40 pounds (18 kg) by reducing his consumption of carbs and alcohol.
