Politician
    (April 1, 1971- )
    Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Leader of the Wildrose Party (2009-2014)
Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Highwood (2012-2015)
    She is divorced and remarried.
She does not use her birth name of Marliana.
Despite being the Leader of the Opposition, she along with Alberta premier Jim Prentice orchestrated a mass floor crossing that saw most of the opposition Wildrose caucus cross the floor to join the governing Progressive Conservatives (December 17, 2014).
She faced a massive backlash amongst her constituents when she crossed the floor, which played a factor in her losing her nomination.
She acted like a poor sport upon losing the nomination, going as far as storming out a back door and telling a reporter to piss off.
She was described as being too weak of a leader, as she refused to do damage control, upon learning of bigoted and intolerant comments made by some of her party's candidates prior to the 2012 election.
Despite criticizing the Wildrose MLA's who crossed the floor, she was in talks with the PC Party of a merger for months prior.
She worked as a journalist, prior to entering politics.
She elevated the status of the Wildrose, from a fringe party to a political threat in a four year span.
She grew up in a subsidized housing complex in Calgary.
She was a member of the Calgary Board of Education, prior to entering politics.
She was described as being media savvy by political insiders.
