Why he might be annoying:

He had the same name as a Deep Purple bassist/vocalist.
He was a toll collector at Jersey's Holland Tunnel and auditioned for The Village People on a dare.
He was so into his Harley-Davidson he parked it inside his house.
He was buried in his leatherman outfit.

Why he might not be annoying:

Being a straight man in a group with gay connotations he had no hang-ups about his sexuality.
After quitting the band act in 1995 he stayed on in a management capacity.
He put together his own successful New York City cabaret act.
He requested after death, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to 'God's Love We Deliver' charity, providing nutrition to AIDS/HIV positive folks in the New York City area.
