The Resume

    (September 22, 1968-March 22, 1970)
    ABC science fiction TV series
Premise: the passengers and crew of a near future Earth space shuttle crash through a wormhole to a parallel Earth-like world where everything is approximately twelve times the size of its counterpart on Earth
The series follows the efforts of the cast trying to survive on this new world and escape it and its dictatorial government and return home
The cast included; Gary Conway, Don Marshall, Deanna Lund, and Heather Young
Guest stars included; Michael Ansara, John Carradine, Alan Hale Jr, and Jack Albertson

Why Land of the Giants might be annoying:

The show was scientifically nonsense. On a planet of Earth's size/mass and atmosphere, it is physically impossible for mammals and other advanced life forms to reach the size of those on the show.
The geographic features of the planet were also super-sized, another impossibility. Imagine an eighty mile high plus Mount Everest or a Marianas Trench eighty miles plus deep!
Few details about the planet were ever given, i.e., why it was supersized and its location.
Everybody on the planet wore 1960's era clothes, drove 1960's era cars, and spoke perfect, 1960's era English.
Almost all plots predictably revolved around the refugees being captured and escaping while trying to figure out a way to get back home.
It replaced the far superior 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' and ran only half as long.
It was the least successful of Allen's 1960's TV series which included; 'The Time Tunnel,' 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,' and 'Lost in Space.'

Why Land of the Giants might not be annoying:

The very good main cast was (unlike the rest of Allen's TV work) ethnically and gender diversified, appeared in all 51 episodes, went on to have continued careers after the show was canceled, and have repeatedly appeared at conventions as a group.
It has a very good website and fan club.
It did very well in merchandising and inspired three novels and a line of comic books.
