    Appeared in 'Sunset Blvd.' (1950), 'Big Jim McLain' (1952), 'So Big' (1953), 'Battle Cry' (1955), 'Polyanna' (1960), 'The Absent Minded Professor' (1961), 'Son of Flubber' (1963), 'Snowball Express' (1972), 'Airport 1975' (1975) and 'Flubber' (1997)

Why she might be annoying:

    She was typecast as the 'girl next door.'
    After 'Sunset Blvd.' she was reteamed with William Holden in three further films with far less success.
    A liberal Democrat, she got into frequent political arguments with John Wayne on the set of 'Big Jim McLain.'

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 'Sunset Blvd.'
    Husband Alan Jay Lerner dedicated 'My Fair Lady' to her.
    After a hiatus from movies to raise her two children, she made a successful return in Disney films.
