Why he might be annoying:

For much of his career, he sported a combover ‘almost as legendary as its owner.’
His feud with fellow Manchester United star George Best got so bad that Best refused to play in Charlton’s testimonial match.
After a falling-out between his wife and his mother, he went years without seeing his mother or his brother, Jack – including not visiting his mother when she was on her deathbed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He survived a plane crash in Munich, Germany, that killed 23 people, including eight Manchester United teammates (February 6, 1958).
He has been married to Norma Ball for over fifty years.
He was one of the inaugural inductees to the English Football Hall of Fame (2002).
He held the Manchester United record for most career goals until 2017 (when Wayne Rooney broke it).
He became involved in the cause of land mine removal after visits to Cambodia and Bosnia, and founded the charity Find a Better Way, which funds research into improved mine clearance methods.
