    Teachers in his elementary school described him as being verbally abusive and aggressive.
    He had to be moved to a separate class in the seventh grade due to concerns regarding 'conflicts with other students.'
    A classmate described him as being very disrespectful to girls and being a bully.
    He was charged with battery and disrupting school during a math class in 2000.
    During his sophomore high school year, he cheered in support of the 9/11 hijackers and imitated an exploding plane towards fellow students on the school bus several times.
    He was expelled from Martin County High School and was suspended for 48 days at another high school for altercations with other students.
    In a questionnaire for Indian River State College's Criminal Justice Program, he admitted to committing a crime that went undetected.
    Following the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007, he suggested in a corrections officer training class for the Florida Department of Corrections that he would bring a gun to class.
    This resulted in him being involuntary dismissed from the program.
    He divorced his first wife after nearly two years of marriage.
    After the attacks, that woman whom he divorced confessed that she suffered abuse at the hands of Mateen, and he was using steroids.
    A former co-worker who worked with him in a gated community reported that Mateen constantly made racist, homophobic, and misogynistic comments.
    He reportedly used between 117-188 rounds of ammunition.
    During a 911 phone call to police, he swore his allegiance to ISIS (Later investigations however found that he had no direct connections toward any terrorist organizations).
    His rampage surpassed the Virginia Tech shootings as the deadliest mass public shooting in modern US history.
    It also was considered the deadliest terrorist attack in modern American history since 9/11.

    Furthermore, the attack came nearly a year to the day nine people were shot to seat in Charleston, South Carolina.
    His parents were divorced.
    His father was physically and verbally abusive toward him.
    His family was described as an 'All-American Family.'
    Up until his death, he worked for a British-owned security firm in Florida.
    He passed his physical exam and psychological test prior to owning his weapons.
