Why he might be annoying:

His level of education is disputed.
Some media outlets reported he dropped out of high school and others stating he had a college degree.
Setting himself alight caused copycat incidents worldwide.
Tunisia's regime, considered one of the Arab world's most stable, toppled due to street demonstrations over his demise.

Why he might not be annoying:

He worked as sole provider for his family of 8, including mother, uncle and several younger siblings.
Police harassed, spat, and slapped him before taking his scales because he sold fruit without a permit.
When the local government refused to help, he stood in front of their offices, yelling, 'How do you expect me to make a living?'
He poured gasoline over his body, then set himself ablaze.
Many Middle East denizens viewed his actions as self-sacrifice, and proof that one frustrated person can provoke monumental change.
