Manager for the Chicago White Sox (1970-1975), Oakland Athletics (1976), Pittsburgh Pirates (1977-1985) and the Atlanta Braves (1986-1988)
Special assistant to the General Manager for the Milwaukee Brewers (1992-2002)

Why he might be annoying:

He was the second manager to be part of a trade since the Jimmy Dykes-Joe Gordon trade in the 1960s.
He was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated along with two managers and three sports coaches that were fired (June 6, 1988).
He was fired three times as manager.
His managing record in his final season in Pittsburgh was 57-104.
He managed awful Braves teams in his final managing years.

He batted and threw left handed.
He was the only Milwaukee Brave to hit a home run on the first career at-bat.
He used unrelenting optimism, which spread through his teams.
He managed the Pirates to win the 1979 World Series.
He quipped about having Willie Stargell on his Pirates team, 'Having Willie Stargell on your ball club is like having a diamond ring on your finger.'
He tossed the ceremonial first pitch prior to the 2006 All-Star Game.
He opened a restaurant in his hometown.
