Drafted 231st overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1978 NHL Entry Draft
Right winger for the Montreal Canadiens (1979-88, 1991-92), New York Rangers (1988-90) and the Boston Bruins (1990-91)

Why he might be annoying:

His nickname during his playing career was 'Knuckles.'
He was notorious for picking fights with other players.
He recorded over 3,000 career penalty minutes.
He holds the NHL record for highest penalty minute per game average.
During one game, he recorded a total of 42 penalty minutes (six minors, two majors, one misconduct and one game misconduct).
He became injury prone during the later stages of his career.
Despite having below average all-star numbers, he was named to the Wales Conference All-Star team (1991) (he missed the game anyway due to injuries).
As a result of his selection, the NHL implemented the 'Chris Nilan rule' which states that any player selected to the All-Star team must have the statistics to back up the selection.
He was arrested and charged with shoplifting after walking out of a department store with a bathing suit under his clothes (July 15, 2009).
When he was confronted about the theft, he allegedly attacked the security guards who apprehended him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He spent his entire NHL career playing for three of the Original Six teams.
He was a member of the Canadiens Stanley Cup championship team (1986).
He majored in economics at Northeastern University.
Following his retirement from hockey, he pursued a career in insurance sales.
He served as an assistant to Rhode Island Secretary of State Edward S. Inman III.
He reached an agreement to pay the court bills following his arrest, in a move which essentially dropped the charges against him.
