    Incorporated in 1857

Why Omaha, Nebraska might be annoying:

It was once a rootin-tootin' gambling town.
Until the 1930's, just about every form of gambling, and widespread prostitution, was openly practiced here.
Mobsters eventually gained control of gambling and prostitution factions here until the 1970's.
Tornadoes have struck the city on many occasions.
In 1975 alone, a blizzard and a tornado struck the city.
It has also been plagued by floods.
Many of its popular landmarks, such as the Ak-Sar-Ben horseracing track, have been torn down.
Residents coming from the south side have to drive into Iowa and back into Nebraska to get to its airport.
It frequently takes advantage of a state law allowing it to annex already-incorporated communities of under 10,000 residents.
As a result, it only has one true suburb in the same county.

Why Omaha, Nebraska might not be annoying:

President Lincoln chose it as the eastern terminus of the Union Pacific Railroad.
Every year, thousands of young baseball players dream of coming here to play in the College World Series.
Its Henry Doorly Zoo, having one of the largest collections of species in the world, is on par with places such as the San Diego Zoo and Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo.
Father Edward Flanagan founded Boys Town, now known as Girls & Boys Town, west of Omaha.
Mutual of Omaha, title sponsor of the TV series "Wild Kingdom', is based here.
It is a major meatpacking center and the home of ConAgra foods.
Multi-billionaire Warren Buffett comes from here.
Film director Alexander Payne was born and raised here, and sets most of his movies here.
Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando, and Nick Nolte were born and raised here as well.
It is also the birthplace of Leslie King and Malcolm Little, but you might know them as Gerald R. Ford and El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X).
It has its own congressional district, which voted Obama for President in 2008, when the rest of the state voted for McCain.
Counting Crows did for it what Frank Sinatra did for New York and Randy Newman did for L.A..
It has the largest population of Sudanese refugees in the U.S..
    Omaha Steaks are made here.
