Why he might be annoying:

Under his direction, the CIA created the MK-Ultra mind control program.
He oversaw CIA operations to overthrow the democratically-elected Prime Minister of Iran, Mohammed Mossadegh, and President Jacobo Arbenz of Guatemala.
He supervised failed assassination attempts against Fidel Castro.
He retired from the CIA following the Bay of Pigs fiasco.
Despite knowing of the CIA assassination plots against Castro, he did not bother to mention them to his fellow Warren Commission members.
He committed adultery so openly that he gave away the daughter of one of his mistresses at her wedding.

Why he might not be annoying:

He wrote a history of the Boer War that was published when he was eight years old.
He refused when his brother, then working as an investment banker, asked him to use his position as a diplomat to obtain insider information on investment opportunities in post-World War I Europe.
After meeting Hitler and Goebbels at a European disarmament conference, he wrote a book warning against American neutrality if war broke out in Europe.
During World War II, he obtained important information about the German V-1 and V-2 rocket programs.
