    He provided the terrorists at Munich with their weapons and personally helped them over a security fence.
    He said Black September did not target civilians because ‘Whether a pianist or an athlete, any Israeli is a soldier.’
    He said the Olympic massacre ‘was the correct thing to do for our cause. [It] brought the Palestinian issue into the homes of 500 million people who never previously cared about Palestinian victims at the hands of Israelis.’
    For his terrorist tell-all book, he was awarded the Palestinian Prize for Culture, worth 10,000 francs.
    He survived being shot five times in an assassination attempt by either the Mossad or a rival Palestinian faction (1981).
    He voted to rescind the portion of the PLO charter calling for the destruction of Israel (1996).
    He said he is opposed ‘in principle’ to suicide bombings.
