    Pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2004-09) and the Seattle Mariners (2009-10)
    He went by the name Ian Oquendo in his first few seasons in the majors, which was his wife's surname.
    He spent his career on poor Pirates and Mariners teams.
    He struggled with consistency issues at the major league level.
    He publicly admitted he contemplated suicide after his major league career failed.
    He suffers from depression.
    He pitched a no-hitter while playing with the Pirates triple A farm team in Indianapolis (2005).
    He led the Pirates in wins and strikeouts, becoming the first pitcher in six seasons to record over 10 wins (2006).
    He pitched for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic (2009).
    He was one of the few players from the Dave Littlefield era to have moderate success in the majors.
    He won the award for Delaware's sportsman of the year (2007).
