Football Player
    (July 31, 1971- )
    Born in Kittanning, Pennsylvania
Quarterback for the Washington Redskins (1994-98), Detroit Lions (1999), Denver Broncos (2000-01), Cincinnati Bengals (2002), Minnesota Vikings (2003-04,2008), Miami Dolphins (2005) and St. Louis Rams (2006-07)
He was called 'the ultimate journeyman' by Yahoo! Sports.
He had fairly low completion rates and quarterback ratings for a starting QB.
The most famous moment of his career was when he celebrated a rushing touchdown by headbutting the end zone wall, giving himself a concussion and sprained neck (November 23, 1997).
After that game, coach Norv Turner said, 'I've never thought to tell a guy not to hit his head against a wall.'
In high school, he lettered in football, basketball and baseball.
He was picked by the Redskins in the seventh (and last) round of the 1994 draft, but one season later replaced the team's first round pick, Heath Shuler, as the starting QB.
When he appeared on the cover of Washingtonian magazine, the photographer said, 'When you shoot athletes, you expect people to show up late with entourages and bad attitudes. But Gus showed up by himself, on time, and was just a nice, regular guy.'
