    (circa 1958- )
    Resided in Merriam, Kansas
Shot and killed abortion provider Dr. George Tiller (May 31, 2009)
He was arrested for possession of explosives after police found a pound of gunpowder and a fuse cord in his car (1996).
He was a member of the anti-government Montana Freemen and the Sovereign Citizen Movement, which considers the US government illegitimate.
During a custody case, he was diagnosed as a possible schizophrenic (2002).
The anti-abortion group Operation Rescue denied having contact with him, but a senior advisor, Cheryl Sullenger, had been keeping him informed of Tiller's court dates.
While awaiting trial, he complained his cell was freezing: 'I started having a bad cough. I thought I was going to have pneumonia.'
He claimed he shot Tiller because 'preborn children's lives were in imminent danger'; however, he shot Tiller in church, which would seriously reduce the imminence of any danger.
He opposed abortion in cases of rape and incest because 'two wrongs don't make a right,' a philosophy that he did not apply to committing murder to stop abortion.
The US House of Representatives unanimously passed a resolution condemning the murder.
His attempt to put the victim on trial by calling Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, who had attempted to prosecute Tiller for providing late term abortions, as a witness was not allowed by the judge.
He was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison (January 29, 2010).
