Why he might be annoying:

He was creepy.
His predictions were bizarre, including the colonization of Mars, the election of Mae West as president, and the end of the world in 1999.
He asked people to keep track of how many of his predictions came true in his book 'Criswell Predicts: From Now to the Year 2000!'
The book's title was a year too many, given his prediction of the end of the world.
He had odd speech patterns, with lots of ups and downs.

Why he might not be annoying:

In March 1963, he predicted that John F. Kennedy would not run for reelection because of an event in November.
He was a popular guest on 'The Tonight Show.'
He was able to spout lines like 'Future events such as these will affect you in the future,' with a straight face.
