She inspired countless journalistic platitudes about how animals can be better parents than humans.

Despite her injuries, she kept returning to the burning building until all five kittens were saved.
Over 7000 people offered to adopt her and her kittens.
Several books were written about her.
The North Shore Animal League created the 'Scarlett Award for Animal Heroism' in her honor.
