The Resume

    (April 29, 1963- )
    Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Drafted sixth overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft
Defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs (1981-86) and the Vancouver Canucks (1986-90)
Amateur scout for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks (1993-94) and the Buffalo Sabres (1994-98)
Director of Amateur Scouting for the Buffalo Sabres (1998-2004)
Assistant general manager for the Boston Bruins (2006-14)
General manager for the Vancouver Canucks

Why he might be annoying:

He made many puzzling personnel decisions in his first couple seasons as the Canucks general manager.
He signed Ryan Miller to a big contract, despite the fact Miller was on the decline and the team acquired Jacob Markstrom in the Roberto Luongo trade.
He made remarks about acquiring both P. K. Subban and Steven Stamkos before the free agency period began, which ended up with the Canucks getting fined $50,000 for tampering.
He refused to accept the fact the Canucks were a team on the decline in the first couple years of taking the job.
His appointment by the Canucks was met with mixed opinions by the fan base, as some fans weren't receptive to the fact he worked in the Bruins front office in 2011.

Why he might not be annoying:

He holds the Western Hockey League record for consecutive games with an assist.
Hockey pundits considered him to be the second best prospect available in the 1981 NHL Draft, behind Dale Hawerchuk.
He worked for the Anaheim Ducks during the franchise's inaugural season.
Despite taking a lot of flack for his moves on the Canucks roster, he has gradually worked on restocking a prospect pool that was neglected by his predecessor, Mike Gillis.
He was considered an offensive defenseman who excelled in all situations.
