Why he might be annoying:

He was initially despised by Royals fans, after he supplanted Cookie Rojas as the team's starting second baseman.
He had a public falling out with the Royals, which contributed to his apathy towards the franchise in later years.
Despite his accolades with the Royals, some baseball pundits felt he got shafted out of a spot in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He was fired as the Royals broadcaster after he frequently made critical comments about the team during broadcasts.
Many people in the Kansas City area, feel his termination led towards his acrimony and feelings of indifference towards the franchise.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a member of the construction crew that built Kauffman Stadium, before signing with the Royals.
He and George Brett became the first set of teammates to play in consecutive career games together.
He was the first member of the Royals to earn the ALCS MVP award (1980).
He was a member of the Royals team that won the first pennant in franchise history (1985).
He was the first second baseman, since Jackie Robinson to serve as a cleanup hitter in the World Series.
Despite his acrimonious feelings towards the team's front office, he remains a popular figure amongst the team's fanbase.
