    He was the TV pitchman for Kellogg's Product 19 cereal.
    He earned fourteen letters in four sports in high school, winning state championships in the 100-yard dash and 220-yard hurdles.
    He scored 33 touchdowns in three seasons, breaking the college record of 31 held by Red Grange.
    He joined the US Army Air Corps during World War II, earning the Silver Star and Purple Heart.
    He survived bailing out during a tropical storm over Dutch Guiana and being shot down over Japanese-occupied China.
    He was the play by play announcer for the first telecast of the Rose Bowl.
    He was modest about his achievements, with Mark noting, 'It was a kid at the park who told me my dad won the Heisman.'
