Why Van Nuys, California might be annoying:

While not as bad as other parts of Los Angeles, it does have its share of gang activity and homelessness.
Van Nuys Boulevard was popular for cruising for teens on Friday and Saturday nights in the 1950’s before the LAPD cracked down on it.
Precinct officials won approval from the Los Angeles City Council to break off a 45-block area from Van Nuys and join the neighboring communities of Lake Balboa and Sherman Oaks (2009).
City council member Tony Cardenas called it gerrymandering ‘motivated by racism’ (it was actually done in an effort to raise neighborhood property values).

Why Van Nuys, California might not be annoying:

It is the most populous neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley.
Parts of ‘Casablanca’ and ‘Terminator’ were filmed on location there.
It was was commemorated in the movies ‘American Graffiti’ and 1979’s ‘Van Nuys Blvd.’
Don Drysdale, Diane Warren, Brian Austin Green, Cindy Williams, Johnny Parsons, and Senator Steve Daines, were born there.
Marilyn Monroe, Jane Russell, Natalie Wood, Robert Redford, and Bob Waterfield grew up and were educated there.
Andy Devine and Rose Marie spent their final years there (Devine held the title of honorary mayor for nearly twenty years).
